Titulo: “Live CD Flujos-Vivos”: una herramienta para crear radios libres
Quienes somos.
Flujos-Migrate, medios sin miedo ni fronteras, es un colectivo de gente sitiada en Mexico y los Estados Unidos. Nos dedicamos al desarrollo de materiales y capacitaciones técnicas para apoyar los movimientos comunitarios interesados en la creación de medios independientes.
Que hacemos.
A partir del 2007 comenzamos con la capacitación a colectivos, organizaciones e individuos interesados en este proceso. Así hemos creado 3 materiales de apoyo para las capacitaciones. El primer material se trata de un CD Flujos para el streaming con recursos para la transmisión de radio a través del internet. El segundo material se trata del “Kit Radiodidáctico”, un extenso manual que abarca diferentes aspectos para la creación de radio, consta de 9 capítulos. El tercer material es un Live CD flujos-vivos.
Que es el Live CD flujos-vivos
Este Live-CD flujos-vivos?" es un sistema operativo integrado completamente por Software Libre en base a la distribución Debian y está orientado a la publicación y transmisión de audio en la red (en el internet?). Dispone de diversas aplicaciones que lo hacen adecuado a cualquier tipo de tareas relacionadas con el audio y el Internet, desde navegar por Internet o usar mensajería instantánea, editar audio, convertir formatos de audio, extraer audio de un disco compacto y, por supuesto, hacer streaming. Una de las principales características de un live-cd es que el sistema está preparado para ser utilizado directamente desde el CD, sin necesidad de realizar ninguna instalación o modificar los datos del disco duro de tu computadora.
Al arrancar la computadora con el CD en el lector de discos, el sistema reconoce todo el hardware (equipamiento) automáticamente y muestra un sistema operativo listo para usar que está contenido en el live-cd.
Flujos-Vivos contiene decenas de programas y un manual de usuario que te permitirá comprenderlos y utilizarlos. Este manual en español (en proceso en traduccion al ingles), detalla paso por paso el uso de diferentes programas para realizar la transmisión de radios por internet.
*Objetivos del Taller *
Dar a conocer la herramienta Flujos-Vivos a las comunidades de radios comunitarias radicadas en los Estados Unidos. A través del taller explicaremos en que consiste esta herramienta y su uso.
Cupo del taller
Se cintará con 20 equipo de los cuáles se podrán hacer equipos de máximo 2 personas por equipo, por lo que esperamos como cupo máximo 50 personas. no ibamos a cambiar eso?
Qué materiales sugerimos para tomar el taller (si no cuentas con un equipo propio no importa aún puedes tomar el taller).
Una computadora tipo PC o Macintosh con procesador Intel.
Tarjeta de sonido en tu computadora o tarjeta externa.

Vamos a publicar en el sitio radio.flujos.org los manuales de Darkice y IDJC para que los participantes puedan bajarlos y estudiarlos previos al taller.

En síntesis, el taller-laboratorio consiste en la presentación de flujos- vivos y en la realización de una transmisión por internet utilizando dos programas del sistema, IDJC y Darkice. Preevemos preguntas y detalles técnicos a solucionar, debido a que el sistema en ocasiones no es compatible con tarjetas de audios o tarjetas tipo wireless no soportados por Debian.
Evaluación
Actualmente flujos-vivos sigue desarrollandose, tenemos una lista de email a través de la cuál los coolaboradores intercambian pruebas y fallos para mejorar esta herramienta colectiva. Title: “Flujos-Vivos Live CD”: a tool to create free radio
Who we are
Flujos-Migrate, media without fear, without borders, is a collective based out of Mexico and the U.S. We dedicate ourselves to developing educational materials and sharing technical skills to grassroots movements interested in creating independent media.
What we do
In 2007, we gave our first workshop to collectives, organizations and people who wanted to learn how to make Internet radio. Since then we have developed three different support materials. The first material is a “Flujos Streaming Educational” CD that contains resources to transmit radio on the Internet. The second material is a “Instructional Radio Kit,” an extensive manual of nine chapters which embarks upon the different aspects for creating radio. The third material is the “Flujos-Vivios Live CD.”
What is the Flujos-Vivos Live CD?
The CD is an operating system completely comprised of Free Software that uses Debian distribution and is oriented toward publication and transmission of audio on the Internet. It includes diverse applications that make it adequate for whatever type of work related to audio and the Internet, from Web navigation to using instant messaging, sound editing, audio format conversion, extracting audio from a CD and of course, Internet radio streaming. One of a live-CD’s principal characteristics is that the OS is ready to use directly from the CD without having to install it or modifying your computer’s hard disk drive.
Upon booting up a computer with the live-CD in the drive, the computer system automatically recognizes the software it is working with and is ready to utilize the Live-CD’s contents. Flujos Vivos contains dozens of programs and a user manual that allows you to understand and use them. This manual in Spanish (in the process of being translated to English) details step by step the use of different programs for radio transmission on the Internet.

Workshop objectives
To introduce the Flujos-Vivos tool to community radio groups in the United States. We will explain through the workshop what this tool consists of and how to use it. Our main objective is to facilitate the understanding of radio enthusiasts with the use of free open source software to produce their programs.
Workshop participation limit
There will be 14 computers, which we can use to form teams of between two and three people, so we hope to have a limit of 40 people.
What materials we suggest to take the workshop (if you do not have equipment, it doesn’t matter you can still take the workshop)
A computer, preferably a PC or a Macintosh with an Intel processor
Sound card in your computer or an external sound card

Ports and internet requirements: preferably with a router so that we can connect the computers through the ethernet

In summary the workshop-laboratory consists of the presentation of Flujos-Vivos and the transmission of an Internet streaming using the system’s programs, IDJC and Darkice. Beforehand, we will work with questions and technical details to resolve them with workshop participants, since sometimes the system is not compatible with sound cards or wireless cards on certain computers that do not support Debian.
Evaluation
Flujos-Vivos is actually still in development, we have an e-mail list (laboratorios@radio.flujos.org) where collaborators exchange ideas on tests and failures to improve this collective tool. The manual’s contents are also available on the Internet. You can also download the latest version of Flujos Vivos from radio.flujos.org
