“Welcome, Sister” is a language and orientation course organized and leaded by Migrant and Refugee women to Migrant and Refugee women.
The course is conceived to be not only a language course but also a space where Migrant and Refugee women can access first information about every day life in Germany, receive community support and create networks with other migrant and refugee women.
The language course is planned to be a more practical and spoken course than a very grammatical focused one, and should help the newcomers to developed their communication abilities in every day life. The course also provides information and support in issues as german Health and Educational System, labour market, family and help in case of Discrimination, Racism, Misoginy and Sexism.
Excursions, sport and other cultural and social activities are used in the Course as tool to facilitate the so called “integration” and also to encourage the creation of migrant and refugee women networks.
The course is free of charge and will take place in the Asociación Cultural Iberoamericana Dresden (Bischofsweg 74), from 29.03 to 17.06.23, every Wednesday from 16h30 to 18h30 (excursions, cultural and sport activities can be scheduled to other weekdays or weekends).

„Welcome, Sister!“ is a project leaded by “Colectiva Feminista de Abya Yala Dresden” in cooperation with the “Asociación Cultural Iberoamericana (ACI-Dresden)” and financially support by the Bundesministerium des Innern und für Heimat being part of the Mia-Kursen Projekt (Migrantinnen einfach stark im Alltag).

“Welcome, Sister” ist ein Sprach- und Orientierungskurs, der von Migrantinnen für Migrantinnen und Flüchtlingsfrauen organisiert und geleitet wird.
Der Kurs soll nicht nur ein Sprachkurs sein, sondern auch ein Ort, an dem Migrantinnen und Flüchtlingsfrauen erste Informationen über das Alltagsleben in Deutschland erhalten, Unterstützung aus der Gemeinschaft bekommen und Netzwerke mit anderen Migrantinnen und Flüchtlingsfrauen aufbauen können.
Der Sprachkurs ist praxisorientiert und soll den Neuankömmlingen helfen, ihre Kommunikationsfähigkeiten im täglichen Leben zu entwickeln. Der Kurs bietet auch Informationen und Unterstützung zu Themen wie dem deutschen Gesundheits- und Bildungssystem, Arbeitsmarkt, Familienthemen und Hilfe im Falle von Diskriminierung, Rassismus, Misogynie und Sexismus.
Ausflüge, Sport und andere kulturelle und soziale Aktivitäten werden im Kurs als Mittel zur Erleichterung der so genannten “Integration” und zur Förderung der Bildung von Netzwerken für Migrantinnen und Flüchtlingsfrauen eingesetzt.
Der Kurs ist kostenlos und findet in der Asociación Cultural Iberoamericana Dresden (Bischofsweg 74) vom 29.03. bis 17.06.23, jeweils mittwochs von 16.30 bis 18.30 Uhr statt. Exkursionen, sowie kulturelle und sportliche Aktivitäten können auch an anderen Wochentagen oder Wochenenden stattfinden.
