Meeting Notes:¶
Myka says: No one took notes at this meetings, so everyone please add to & edit this document as you see fit!
Logistics:
Though some people had left early, we made a few decisions about future meetings:
- We want to look for a regular meeting time & place so everyone can plan group meetings into their regular schedules.
- We want to meet every other week (twice per month) to discuss our reading
- We want to schedule a third, optional meeting once per month that does NOT discuss readings. Instead, we will have a field trip, watch a film or some other activity.
- Please try to arrive on time & have read as much of the text as possible.
Cyberpunk Apocalypse has said they are willing to hear our proposal to use their space regularly if we have a firm time. In order to work out the specifics of the meeting times, we want to use this wiki page to organize our schedules.
About the exhibit:
We saw Independent Curators International’s traveling exhibit “Experimental Geography.”

Most people seemed most excited by the maps near the elevator on the third floor, & a complete listing of these posters would be awesome to have.
About the readings:
Toward an Ecological Conversation:
*
The State & Policy: Imperialism, Exclusion, & Ecological Violence as State Policy
We did not discuss “‘Free Trade’ & the Eclipse of Civil Society: Barriers to Transparency & Public Participation in NAFTA & FTAA” because we didn’t have enough time. Plan to discuss it next week.
Second Meeting: 13 November 2009, 4:30pm @ The Miller Gallery, discussion to follow at Hunt Library Cafe.¶
We’re looking at the Experimental Geography exhibit at CMU’s Miller Gallery before convening at the campus library cafe to discuss both the exhibit & the three articles passed out at the first meeting.
