Terminologies

Descriptions for all terminologies used in our wikis
  1. WMN – Wireless Mesh Network.
  2. B.A.T.M.A.N ADV – Better Approach To Mobile Ad-hoc Networks Advanced is a mesh networking protocol that operates on Layer 2 (Data Link Layer) of the OSI Layer model.
  3. Node – A computer (or) router (or) smartphone.
  4. Mesh Node – A node running any one of the mesh protocol.
  5. Non-Mesh Node – A node that is not running any mesh protocol.
  6. AP – Access Point
  7. Backhaul / Wireless Backhaul – Wireless backhaul is the wireless communication and network infrastructure responsible for transporting communication data from end users or nodes to the central network or infrastructure and vice versa. It is the intermediate wireless communication infrastructure that connects smaller networks with the backbone or the primary network. Implemented through microwaves and satellite communication infrastructure.
