The Seattle Bicycle Defense Fund made its first payout Friday, after Critical Mass. We gave $150 to David, one of the July Critical Mass arrestees! This is only a small dent in his current legal fees, but it is a huge testament to the way bikers are banding together to help each other.

SBDF made our second payout on Saturday, to John, the other July Critical Mass arrestee, who also received $150.

After we presented a $150 check last night, we passed the hat for additional donations, and received $119.97 from more wonderful cyclists. Together we are strong!

Current Organizing

To support the arrested and injured cyclists, we are getting the word out, and we are collecting money in partnership with The Bikery. Here is a composite account of what happened and here an opinion piece on why this is important. For more info, contact seattlebikedefense@riseup.net.

Were you injured?

Many lawyers will help injured cyclists pursue insurance claims against drivers on a contingency basis. That means you don’t need to pay them until they get you money from the driver or their insurance! Bob Anderton, from Washington Bicycle Accident Attorneys, is one lawyer who operates this way, and he is in the Seattle area.

Invite from Recent Sunday’s Meeting

Hello Seattle Cyclists, Friends, Critical Mass Riders and Allies,

Let’s find the truth! Let’s work together for road justice!

MEETING TO SUPPORT CRITICAL MASS
Sunday, August 3rd 6pm
20/20 Cycles, 2020 E Union St

The Bikery invites you to a public meeting to discuss support for Critical mass Riders traumatized and injured in Friday’s attack and aid for riders targeted by the police. Witnesses and participants are particularly invited to come and share their stories. If you are not comfortable coming forward but would still like to share your story you can have a statement read for you. This is not a press conference. Refreshments will be provided.

Through collaborative, hands on education on bikes and biking, the Bikery cultivates the personal, social, and environmental benefits of bicycling.

The Bikery does not organize Seattle Critical Mass. The Bikery does not claim to speak for Seattle Critical Mass. The Bikery is dedicated to improving Seattle’s rich bicycle culture and supporting Seattle cyclists in trouble.
